Toyota Makes Massive Recall Of RAV4s For Wiper Problems

One of the leading Japanese auto giants, Toyota Motor Corp. has made a massive recall on Thursday for, the RAV4 models of 2009 to 2012 and also the RAV4 EV models that it launched from 2012 to 2014. This is one of the massive recalls that Toyota has made recently. Almost half a million of Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicles that has seen decent sales in the United States auto markets is being recalled by the company. The reason why such a massive recall is initiated by Toyota Motors is because of the windshield wiper defect.

The recall by different auto manufacturers for different kinds of problems is on a rise in the Untied States this year. If you are a Toyota RAV4 owner, then you will pray for the rains to not come when you are using the car or you will hate rains for now.

As many as 423,500 crossover SUVs that Toyota sold in the U.S. markets is being recalled for the windshield wiper issue. This cannot be treated s a small issue at all. This recall campaign covers 421,000 of the 209 to2012 Toyota RAV4 and the remaining 2,500 units of the new 2012 – 2014 Toyota RAV4 EV vehicles.

There are no reports of any incidents or injuries to people and property damage so far due to the windshield wiper issues in Toyota RAV4. Toyota says that water can easily corrode the link between the motor cranks and the wiper as the days pass by. In due course of time, the seepage of water can cause both the parts to separate. This means that the windshield wiper will cease to work and hence the driver will not be able to use the wiper to clear the water of his windshield.

The dealers of Toyota RAV4 will be replacing the water channel, the wiper link and the wiper motor crank arm with new components to rectify the windshield wiper problems faced by both the RAV4 and the RAV4 EV cars. The replacement of the components will be done free of cost by Toyota and you just need to take your car to your nearest Toyota dealership to solve the issue.

The Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 EV SUV owners will be notified by email from Toyota about the windshield wiper issue so that they can take the vehicle to their dealership to get it rectified. The notification mail will be sent by the company around mid November.
