The electric vehicle market is on the popularity run right now. There are many people now interested to use electric vehicles as against gasoline or diesel powered cars. The success of Tesla cars has driven many of the other luxury auto makers to think of coming out with their own version of the EVs to suit the demands of the market. One such company that has confirmed that it would be coming out with all new electric vehicles within one year is the Mercedes Benz.
As Audi have also voiced its interests in coming out with an all new EV vehicle, it was only about time that its fierce competitor Mercedes Benz brand made an announcement of its own full EV. The Engineering Head of Mercedes Benz, Thomas Weber revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show that Mercedes will be surely coming out with an all EV car next year. But, the brand also has plans to release an all electric crossover or sports utility vehicle on the market as well.
This is part of the plan to increase the electric vehicle portfolio of Mercedes Benz in the global market. At present, Mercedes Benz only has an SLS AMG and B Class electric drive models. Weber has confirmed that Mercedes Benz will be coming out with a fully electric car that has the range of 250 to 300 miles. The new electric vehicle from Mercedes will not be a competitor to its current EVs and will also not be a smart car or a B class electric drive car. The new EV will also not be a sports car. All this led to just one car and that is a crossover SUV.
The new EV from Mercedes would be cool and attractive and will be a standalone vehicle from the rest of the Mercedes vehicles. The new EV from Mercedes would be competing with the Tesla Model X and Audi Q6 car in the market. The showings of EVs from Porsche and Audi at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show has kindled the interest in the Mercedes Benz camp to come out with a fully electric vehicle, and that too a crossover SUV.
There is no doubt that Mercedes Benz is all geared up to expand its lineup of plug in hybrids that already has versions of GLE class, S class and the C class. The launch time of this fully electric SUV is not yet revealed.
