GM Tech Center To Get Driverless Volts In 2016

The popular American car manufacturer, General Motors, has said that it will be offering 2017 Chevrolet Volt cars to its Tech Center campus for the use of its employees. The main thing here is t the 2017 Chevy Volt that GM will be offering will be an autonomous one. The company will be offering a fleet of these cars to the Warren Technical Center that will help with transportation of its employees.

The project will start to function in 2016 in the Tech campus. This is part of the many other future mobility ideas that GM has in its mind and is looking to implement. This information was shared by the CEO of Detroit automaker, Mary Barra, when she talked to the media about the plans of the company to make full use of its mobility plans to carry out personal mobility in the future.

The Warren Technical Center campus will be getting the 2017 Chevy Volts by the end of the year 2016. This driver-less car can be used by the GM employees to move in and around the campus. The employees can use the car sharing mobile app offered by GM to book a Volt and to choose a destination that they want to visit. The use of the autonomous Volt at its test center will help the company to develop the autonomous vehicle with the best quality standards. The test center will act as a lab for testing the driver-less Volt.

General Motors has also confirmed that the company will be coming out with the Super Cruise edition of the 2017 Cadillac CT6 car with autonomous driving for its customers.

GM announced that it is partnering with Honda to bring out the fuel cell vehicle into the market. They have plans to bring it out by 2020. The Detroit auto giant was one of the first auto manufactures to work on hydrogen fuel cars and came out with the first vehicle in 2007. The fuel cell vehicle technology is also being developed for cars that are not automatic.

GM also has showcased a new electronic bike on Thursday that supports the perception of mobility in the urban world. This bike was developed at the GM’s facility in Oshawa in Ontario. The auto maker is fully aware of the there will be many people who will be embracing alternative transportation options in the coming years. This is why the company has pronounced a slew of unconventional transportation proposals.
