Spieth in contention after rain alters course at Nelson

He did not make it to the weekend each of the past three years at TPC Four Seasons. It is the third straight year that McIlroy missed the cut at his home tournament, which he hosts.

“It’s starting to feel that way, to be honest”.

New Zealander Danny Lee is sitting above the cut line after darkness forced the suspension of play on the second day of the United States PGA Tour tournament in Texas.

“I got little kids”, said Walker, a five-time winner who is second to Spieth in FedEx Cup points. Does not mean I cannot play as well. But when I’m inside the ropes, it’s just another week. “I kept hitting fairways, that’s the big thing out here being so wet”. Ryan Palmer and James Hahn share third place at minus-5. Playing the same group with Spieth are Hunter Mahan (7-under) and Jonathan Randolph (7-under).

There were 33 players on the course after the start was delayed three hours.

Spieth and every other early finisher within three shots of the lead had a birdie 2 on what was supposed to be the par-four 14th Friday. Thomas opened with an even-par 70. “I felt comfortable driving the ball and striking it”.

That left Bowditch two ahead of American Jimmy Walker, a fellow Texas resident who mixed seven birdies with a lone bogey to surge up the leaderboard.

Bowditch also lives in Texas.

“The finish was certainly nice. Good iron shots”.

Local fans made the Irish Open a four-day, 80,000-ticket sellout in hopes of seeing McIlroy at his best. He capped his bogey-free round with a pair of pars.

England’s Tyrrell Hatton showed the field at Royal County Down in Newcastle that the seaside links course, bedeviled with unseasonably frigid gales and pelting showers, could be tamed. I typically play a ball low.

Morgan Pressel closed with a birdie and an eagle for a five-under 66 and a one-stroke lead Friday after the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway Township, N.J.

UPDATE: Gary Woodland has taken advantage of this situation. The 2015 Masters champion has never been a long hitter, so his short game and putting is essential to his success. Had he made it, Harrington would have tied the 76-year-old course record.

Just a golf course that may not fit my game as well.
