Warner Bros. has set release dates for Ben Affleck thriller “The Accountant“, Miles Teller/Jonah Hill crime-comedy “Arms and the Dudes” and “Project XX“, the sequel to the 2012 party film. It’s unclear if original stars Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown or director Nima Nourizadeh will return for the sequel.
Given all that, it seems likely that Project XX will simply follow a different crop of hard-partying teens.
Directed by “Warrior” producer Gavin O’Connor and written by Bill Dubuque, the movie tells the tale of a talented accountant, played by Affleck, who has a second job as an assassin. The film stars Ben Affleck, Jeffrey Tambor, Anna Kendrick and J K Simmons. It’s been dated for August 19, 2016, opening opposite kid-targeted Kubo and the Two Strings.
The movie will face competition from “Kung Fu Panda 3” and “The Finest Hours“, starring Chris Pine and Affleck’s brother Casey.
Additionally, Warner Bros. has moved up an untitled New Line horror film one week, from Jan. 29, 2016 to Jan. 22, 2016. That’s almost certainly a sequel to the terrible, high-grossing Conjuring prequel/spinoff Annabelle.
