Vermont’s Sanders kicks off 2016 bid from Clinton’s left

While Sanders might be the best known politician here, he is relatively unknown in other parts of the country. But if you’re fearless enough to describe yourself that way? Today, though, today belonged to Bernie Sanders, the independent senator from Vermont.

The self-described Democratic socialist, Sanders told the crowd his campaign is about the needs of the American people. “But what your job is, what the media’s job is, is to say, look, these are the major issues facing the country”.

In Sanders’ mind, the Trans-Pacific Partnership – a major piece of the Obama administration’s economic agenda – is not one of those growth policies.

He won 3 more times by much wider margins and found a passionate following among the middle class and blue collar voters. “They are about the problems that you and millions of people face in our country and we need a civil, intelligent, serious discussion about these issues”. “NO to fast track, and NO to the TPP”.

Senator Bernie Sanders officially kicked off his presidential campaign in the city where he began his political career on Tuesday. There are some who aren’t impressed with every single thing he does.

“This type of rigged economy is not what America is supposed to be about”.

“This campaign is not about Bernie Sanders“.

In an interview with CNBC, Sanders made the attacks personal against Clinton.

Sanders, 73, said he is calling on liberals to join him in a “political revolution” to elevate attention to income inequality, a campaign finance overhaul and climate change – issues that have motivated Warren, the Massachusetts senator who appears to be sitting out the 2016 race despite intense interest from liberals in seeing her run.

Be proactive – Use the “Flag as Inappropriate” link at the upper right corner of each comment to let United States know of abusive posts. And the early signs are that despite the long odds, he might be poised to make the most of it.

“It was 90”, Harwood confirmed, though it was as high as 92 percent during the Eisenhower administration until his successor, John F. Kennedy, slashed the highest rate to 70 percent.

After Vermont, he said his next stops will be in New Hampshire, Iowa and Minnesota. In Washington State, there were two polls last week where he had moved into the 20s in the Democratic primary. “But for too many of our fellow Americans, the dream of progress and opportunity is being denied by the grind of an economy that funnels all the wealth to the top”. He rejects the notion that he’s simply in the race to shape the debate. Hillary Clinton is a candidate, I am a candidate, ” Sanders said. “Socialism is, above all, the movement of the working class for their own freedom and power in a full democracy”. “Over the next year, the discussions we have during our respective nominating processes will help make that choice clear”. Bernie Sanders will meet with potential voters in Ames on Saturday with an event at Torrent Brewing Company.

With everyone and their mother announcing their presidential intentions, you can be sure there will be more of these to come.
